Post PSN online / offline?

Hey. Could we get something here, quick and simple, to show if the network is online or offline? Or is there a thread/sticky somewhere i missed?
I updated last night and all of a sudden i couldn't log in. I thought i had botched it up coz i normally update via USB, last night 1st time update via online.
I checked this morning that the network was back up and i could log back in.
